![]() "Jorgensen, a former director of the Maine Humanities Council, just finished his first term in the Legislature. He brought to the job an admirable mix of progressive politics, deep knowledge of policy, and a willingness to fight the recklessness of the LePage administration. We enthusiastically endorse him for a second term because of his support for increasing funding for Maine's public higher education system, increasing public transit and bicycle friendly infrastructure, expanded Medicaid, and pushing policies that promote energy efficiency". Eventually, I recounted an experience I'd had while traveling to some midwest baseball parks this summer when my Visa card got locked because I was out of my normal geography. Suddenly the conversation abruptly shifted - "so - do you like baseball?". Huh? Well, yes! Turns out that their son, Ryan Reid, who graduated from Deering around the same time as Orioles phenom Ryan Flaherty, is a pro ball player who has played with the Pittsburgh Pirates and a bunch of minor league teams. This was by far the most interesting credit card fraud discussion outcome ever. I'm grateful for everyone I've met at the doors. But this was a visit that I won't forget. I left with several Ryan Reid baseball cards in my possession, and a new ball player to keep track of. THANK YOU, Mr and Mrs, Reid! This week's Forecaster had a profile of me and my opponent, Dr, Jim Azzola, as part of its ongoing election coverage:
